da Vinci® Si™ Surgical System

It has robotic arms that can simulate the gentle human touch. The da Vinci® Si™ surgical system is the latest technology in minimally invasive procedures now being used in operating rooms at Mercy Hospital in Miami. The state-of-the-art robotic system is designed to enhance the capabilities of surgeons for a series of complex surgeries. Mercy was among the first in Florida and in the nation to acquire this latest robotic platform.

The da Vinci® Si™, the latest addition to the da Vinci surgical system, can be used for hysterectomies and myomectomies, ovarian cystectomies, prostate and other urologic procedures; as well as cardiothoracic, colorectal and bariatric surgeries. Aside from its minimally invasive approach, the robotic surgical system also offers great benefits to patients: less blood loss, less chance of infection, a shorter hospital stay, less pain, scarring and faster recovery.

The da Vinci® Si™ consists of an ergonomically designed surgeon console, a patient side cart with four interactive robotic arms. The arms have been engineered to precisely mimic the movement of the surgeon’s fingers, wrists and hands and can only be controlled by the surgeon while he seats on the console. Its enhanced hi-definition 3D vision helps double visual clarity. An optional dual console also allows a second surgeon to assist in the procedure.

This new cutting edge technology is truly replicating the experience of open surgery by preserving natural eye-hand-instrument alignment and intuitive instrumental control. The new technology allows physicians to perform most delicate surgeries with greater control, dexterity and precision.
